Jerry Burgess

Jeff Burgess Veteran

Despite being an honors student and decent athlete in high school, plebe year was a struggle for me as were later courses like Juice. My hours spent at KDET as The B-Man probably didn’t help my study habits but graduation somehow arrived and five years in five different locations ensued. After leaving the Army the GI Bill and a teaching assistantship stipend in political science paid for a Masters in Urban Studies from Old Dominion University and lead me to a career in local government management and most importantly to my wife Pam in Portsmouth Virginia. Retired since 2012 I am blessed to have her by my side living in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

  • Trailways to R-Day
Took a Trailways bus from Norfolk to NYC free because my Dad worked for them. Made it to the bus to West Point and all after that was a haze that I had no clue what was happening. Prior-service stud saved my butt during Beast many times.
